ناقش الرفيق السكرتير العام للحركة الديمقراطية الآشورية، يعقوب كوركيس، يوم الخميس 25 أيلول الجاري، مع عدد من مؤسسات شعبنا القومية في شيكاغو، دور مؤسسات المهجر في بناء علاقات دولية تسهم في دعم قضيتنا القومية، عارضًا في الوقت ذاته التحديات السياسية والاقتصادية والأمنية التي تواجه شعبنا في الوطن والإقليم، وذلك بحضور القيادي السابق الرفيق توما خوشابا.
وأوضح كوركيس أهمية الدور الذي يجب أن تلعبه مؤسساتنا القومية في بناء علاقات سياسية فعالة مع القوى الدولية وكسب الأصدقاء لشعبنا وقضيته.
وبيّن كوركيس حجم التحديات السياسية والأمنية والاقتصادية التي يعاني منها شعبنا في الوطن، والتي تهدد وجوده التاريخي على أرضه.
وأضاف كوركيس في الوقت ذاته أن المتغيرات السياسية القادمة في المنطقة ستنعكس على الأوضاع في الوطن، والتي بدورها ستؤثر بشكل كبير على حضور شعبنا ووجوده.
ومن جانبه، قال الرفيق توما خوشابا إن المحافظة على حضورنا القومي في الوطن قضية مصيرية لنا في زوعا، وإن هذا الحضور يعززه تكامل العمل بين المؤسسات القومية في الداخل والخارج.
ADM Secretary-General Meets with Community Institutions in Chicago to Discuss Challenges and International Relations
On Thursday, September 25, Assyrian Democratic Movement (ADM) Secretary-General Yaqub Korkis met with several community institutions in Chicago. The discussions focused on the role of the diaspora in building international relations to support the Assyrian national cause, as well as the political, economic, and security challenges facing the community in the homeland and the region. Former ADM leader Toma Khoshaba also attended the meeting.
Korkis stressed the need for national institutions to strengthen political ties with international partners and win more allies for the Assyrian cause. He warned that ongoing challenges in the homeland threaten the community’s historical presence on its land, and that upcoming regional shifts will have a major impact on the future of Assyrians.
Khoshaba underlined that safeguarding the Assyrian presence in the homeland is a vital issue for ADM, emphasizing that cooperation between institutions at home and abroad is key to ensuring that presence.
