كان السومريون والاشوريون والبابليون يحتفلون بعيد ( مو شار دأيل ) وتعني : ماء الاله الشافي . إذ كانت المعابد قبل اعياد اكيتو وقبل اجراء الطقوس الدينية وبعد تقديم القرابين للآلهة تُغسل وتُرش بالماء لإبعاد الروح الشريرة والنجاسة عنها. لذلك كان بجانب كل معبد مصدراً للماء للقيام بتلك الطقوس .وما طقوس العماد عند المسيحيين والصابئة ألا امتداد لتلك التقاليد التي كانت تمارس عند البابليين والاشوريين . وعند قيام رُسل المسيح ,له المجد , بالتبشير برسالة المسيح في بلاد الرافدين اعتنقت جموع كثيرة من البابلين والاشوريين وشعوب اخرى المسيحية.ُ فاضطر الرسل الى تعميد الجماهير المؤمنة سوية ً وبشكل جماعي برشهم بالماء المُقدس . لذلك ارتبط هذا العيد التاريخي بعيد اثني عشرة رسول ( رسل الرب يسوع المسيح الاثني عشر ) ,مثلما كان يُحتفل بهذا العيد في عيد اكيتو الذي كان يستمر اثنا عشر يوما ايضا .وعليه اصبح عيد (موشار دأيل )عيداً قومياً ودينياً عند البابليين والاشوريين بعد اعتناقهم المسيحية.ولازال العراقيون بشكل عام يقلدون تلك الطقوس او ما يشابهها مثلا الوضوء ورش الماء خلف المسافرين لإبعاد الشر عنهم . وقد مورس هذا التقليد رش الماء خلف المسافر منذ عهد السومريين كما تشاهد في اللوحة السومرية ادناه . ويحتفل في هذا العيد في شهر تموز في الصيف ابناء شعبنا الصغار والكبار فكنا في طفولتنا نذهب الى عيون الماء والابار ونهر البندوايا ونقضي النهار سباحة ومنهم من يحمل اواني الماء ويرش به على المارة . ومن هنا ,من بلاد سومر وبابل واشور, انتقل هذا العيد وهذه الطقوس الى بعض الشعوب المجاورة او التي كانت من ضمن الامبراطورية الاشورية التي امتدت من ارمينيا الى مصر ومن بلاد فارس الى قبرص . فأاقتبست هي الاخرى الاحتفال برأس السنة ـ اكيتو (ريش شاتين) او ـ ريشا دشاتا ( رأس السنة الجديدة ) وطقوسها التي كانت تستمر اثنا عشر يوما ومن تلك الطقوس رش الماء المقدس الشافي ـ موشار دأيل ـ .

Mushardeil

The Sumerians, Assyrians and Babylonians were celebrating the festival of (Mu shar deil), which means: the healing water of the god. As before the Akito festivals, before religious rituals were conducted, and after offerings to the gods, temples were washed and sprayed with water to keep out the evil spirit and impurity away from them. Therefore, next to each temple was a source of water to perform these rituals. The rites of baptism among Christians and Sabiaans are nothing but an extension of those traditions that were practiced by the Babylonians and Assyrians. And when the apostles of Christ, to Him be glory, preached the message of Christ in Mesopotamia, many groups of Babylonians, Assyrians and other peoples converted to Christianity. The apostles were forced to baptize the believing masses together and collectively by sprinkling them with holy water. Therefore, this historical feast was associated with the feast of the twelve apostles (the twelve apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ), just as this feast was celebrated on the Akitu feast, which also lasted twelve days. Accordingly, the feast of (Mushar Deil) became a national and religious feast for the Babylonians and Assyrians after their conversion to Christianity. And Iraqis in general still imitate these rituals or what is similar, for example ablution and spraying water behind travelers to keep evil away from them. This tradition has been practiced by spraying water behind the traveler since the time of the Sumerians, as you can see in the Sumerian painting below . Our people, young and old, celebrate this holiday in the month of July in the summer. In our childhood, we used to go to the water springs, wells, and the Bandawaya River, to spend the day swimming, some of people carry water pots and sprinkle it on passersby. From here, from the countries of Sumer, Babylon and Assyria, this feast and these rituals were transmitted to some neighboring peoples or those who were within the Assyrian Empire, which extended from Armenia to Egypt and from Persia to Cyprus. Those people also quoted the celebration of the New Year – Akito (rashe shatin) or – Risha Dashata (New Year’s Day). So its rituals that lasted twelve days, among those rituals was the sprinkling of holy healing water – Moshar Dail .
